Believe it or not - this was a legal operation! Clarence and a black bear living at the farm were seized by state officials after Ohio SB 310 - the Ohio Dangerous Wild Animals Act was passed. Clarence was kept in a small cage so the owners could harvest his urine, which was sold to market and used by hunters.
Lions Tigers & Bears was called upon by Ohio Department of Agriculture officials to provide Clarence with a lifetime home. Clarence was extremely timid after first arriving to our sanctuary. He spent time in quarantine and adjusting to his new surroundings. Today Clarence is thoroughly enjoying his sanctuary home. He shares a habitat with Mia and RJ, two of our other bobcats.
